| Technology Update 5/16/12 | ||
|
Dear 4th-7th Grade Parents/Guardians,
St. Odilia School has always supported technology that engages and enhances its students’ learning. We have given students access to our computer lab, laptop carts, iPods, and Smartboards; these have proven to be successful educational tools.
We currently have a 5th grade 1:1 iPad pilot program. This program has given each student their own iPad to use throughout the day and at home. The iPad 1:1 initiative expands the use of technology from our current shared model to an individual, personal student model. The iPad committee has evaluated our 5th grade iPad pilot program with input from the 5th grade teachers, a 5th grade parent user group, 5th grade students, and from the middle school teachers. We are excited to announce that we will move forward with a 1:1 iPad program for the 2012-2013 school year! Next year’s iPad program will include the 5th and 6th grades in the same format as this year’s pilot in which students are assigned a school-controlled Apple ID for downloading content. The 8th grade students will also participate in the iPad 1:1 program. Since they will be 13 years of age, they will have a personal Apple ID for downloading content. The 7th grade will not start the year with an iPad program. Our resources, personnel, and timing will not allow us to address 7th grade use at this time. However, a MacBook cart will be available for each 7th grade homeroom.
The cost factor for those in 5th,6th and 8th grade will be $180 for the school year. The 6th grade fee will be due in January.
We look forward to incorporating this technology into our curriculum and will keep you informed as more details become finalized!
Sincerely,
The iPad Committee
Bob Grose, Julie Archbold, Bill Booth, Molly Conway, Jenelle Fackler, Angie Fox, Ryan Pajak, Jeanne Schaaf, Ben Stangler

| A Message from the Nurse | ||
|
As the end of the school year nears, thoughts are often on family vacations and fun. It is also a time to start thinking about your child’s school health needs for next fall. Please click HERE for information on physicals, immunizations and preschool screening.
For new students starting St. Odilia School in the fall, please contact your current school to transfer your child’s immunizations and health record.
There is still plenty of colds and flu about so we would like to remind parents to keep their child home if any of the following exist.
Also please keep your child at home if they are too sick to participate in the normal school day.
